Recursive Ink, the developer of Omnipedia, has a deep-rooted respect for personal privacy. We are not in the business of collecting, sharing, or selling information about our users. This policy describes what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have under applicable privacy laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
This privacy policy is effective as of 01/07/2025. We may update this policy from time to time. You can review the current version of the policy at https://recursive.ink/omnipedia/privacy.html where a summary of changes is also maintained. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically. If we make significant changes, you will be notified within the app.
What Data We Collect
The Omnipedia app is designed to respect your privacy by default.
- We do not collect any personal information through the Omnipedia app, regardless of whether or not you are a subscriber.
- We do not track what you read, what you search for, or how you use the app.
- We do not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers on our website or in the app.
To provide the Omnipedia service, we do log some technical data when:
- You download or update Omnipedia libraries,
- You send messages or flag articles through the app,
- You visit our website.
This data may include your IP address, an anonymous subscriber token, timestamps, and other request metadata. We use this data only for service provision, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and security. It is not linked to your identity and is retained temporarily or as required for service provision.
Additionally, the Apple App Store provides us with aggregated and anonymous statistics about downloads, subscriptions, and general app performance; but, again, such statistics are not linked to you personally.
If you choose to contact us (by email, through our contact form, or within the app), we will retain your message, including any personal data you provide (such as your name and email address), for the purpose of responding to you and maintaining a record of the conversation. Such communications may be stored for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and for record-keeping purposes, unless you request deletion.
The Omnipedia app provides an option to be notified (by email) if Omnipedia ever becomes available in your language. If you choose to use this feature, we will retain your email address until the notification has been sent or you request its deletion.
For any personal data you voluntarily provide to us (e.g., via email), we rely on your explicit consent as the lawful basis for processing. For technical or security-related data (e.g., IP address logs), we rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining and protecting the Omnipedia service.
How We Protect Your Data
Although we currently collect minimal personal data, we take confidentiality and data security seriously. Any personal data you share with us (such as through email communications) is stored under appropriate security precautions. Should we collect additional data in the future, we will ensure all processing remains in line with any applicable privacy laws.
Any personal data we hold may be processed or stored in jurisdictions other than your own. At present, we use servers physically located in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Where personal data is transferred outside of the UK or EU, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as relying on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or UK authorities.
Access to any personal data is restricted to authorized personnel who require it in order to provide support or maintain our services.
Your Rights
Under privacy laws, such as the GDPR and the CalOPPA, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you,
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information,
- Request deletion of your personal data,
- Object to or restrict certain processing,
- Withdraw your consent at any time,

Children’s Privacy

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 (or the applicable age threshold in your jurisdiction) has provided us with personal information, please contact us at pri. We will take steps to delete such information promptly. va cy @rec ursive. ink
